Our stories have the power to create or destroy a worldview. Recognizing the stories we hold within ourselves plus the stories of those who came before us can serve as a powerful means to activate relationship, empathy and imagination.
THE INNER WORK OF RACIAL JUSTICE
This session focuses on the heart – the core where we think, reflect, imagine, remember, and make meaning – to move forward more mindfully, with clarity and purpose. We will explore ways we might fuel our inner journey, since changed individuals can change cultures.
BUILDING RACIAL LITERACY TO NAVIGATE CHALLENGING CONVERSATIONS
Words have power with implications far beyond the dictionary definition, and deeper relationships call for understanding the terms of engagement for meaningful conversations. This module helps participants interrogate the language of DEI and explore important principles and techniques useful for engaging in the oftentimes confusing and always challenging discussions around identity, difference, bias, and justice.
DISRUPTING BIAS IN EVERYDAY LIFE AND LANGUAGE
You may have grown up deflecting or avoiding conversations around race, religion, politics, money, and sex. You might have been encouraged to be “color blind” or imagine you were taught to treat everyone the same, with the best of intentions. This module helps participants understand and interrupt seemingly benign but often dangerous myths and statements that reinforce bias, encourage estrangement, and exacerbate harm.
